PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS), if released, may endanger human
life, the environment and property. Though much is written and practiced
in regard to oil spills, the nature of HNS spills could be significantly
different in the responses applied and is reflected in the IMO OPRC -
HNS Protocol of 2000. Use of industry guidelines in response methods and
techniques together with examples drawn from case studies will guide
towards further learning in this interest. The intended course
participants will be Port and Harbor Officials, ship's officers and
emergency response staff from the marine industry. Course members who
satisfactorily complete the course are issued with a certificate of
attendance.
