PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
After
completion of this training, trainees will:

Know
about the Hazard Communication rule and its implementation in their
work areas, including all elements that the rule requires.

Be
able to read and apply information from container labels and MSDSs.
-
Be
able to prevent exposure to hazardous chemicals by a variety of
protective measures, including selection of appropriate PPE,
detection of releases, and participation in emergency procedures.

Be
more safety conscious in the use of chemicals.
-
Have a
realistic view of the chemicals in the work area.

OUTLINES:

Overview of the written Hazard Communication program;
-
How to
read and understand an Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a
chemical label;

Chemical health and physical hazards;
-
Available protective measures; and
-
Chemical storage and spill procedures.
