 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

After completion of this training, trainees will:

  • Know about the Hazard Communication rule and its implementation in their work areas, including all elements that the rule requires.

  • Be able to read and apply information from container labels and MSDSs.

  • Be able to prevent exposure to hazardous chemicals by a variety of protective measures, including selection of appropriate PPE, detection of releases, and participation in emergency procedures.

  • Be more safety conscious in the use of chemicals.

  • Have a realistic view of the chemicals in the work area.

 

PROGRAM OUTLINES:

  • Overview of the written Hazard Communication program;

  • How to read and understand an Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a chemical label;

  • Chemical health and physical hazards;

  • Available protective measures; and

  • Chemical storage and spill procedures.
